140 national security experts, military leaders, and elected officials are urging Congress to create a bipartisan January 6 commission to investigate the Capitol riot and prevent another violent attack.

The Justice Department has already charged more than 350 insurrectionists and arrested 57 members of extremist groups like the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and Three Percenters for breaching the Capitol. New evidence suggests that these groups had a strategic plan to overthrow the election results by seizing the Capitol.

They used paramilitary gear and encrypted messaging to break in. They intentionally camouflaged their members to be undetectable to law enforcement. Leaders from the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers even banded together to plan the insurrection before January 6.

This wasn't "a rally that got out of hand." This was planned, and national security experts are warning that there will "almost certainly" be more violence from domestic extremist groups if we don't act immediately.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to establish an independent 9/11-style commission to look into the events of January 6 earlier this year -- but Republicans blocked the initiative.
