Muslims aren't a monolith - we're also queer, intersectional, taking action, and more!

Salaam (peace),

How could it be October already?! Fall 2019 has snuck up on all of us, but the Muslim Youth Leadership Council is ready with a new #MuslimAnd Week of Action. #MuslimAnd is a campaign that expands common ideas of who Muslims are. We are not monolithic. We are #MuslimAnd LGBTQ+, #MuslimAnd intersectional, #MuslimAnd taking action, #MuslimAnd so much more. From October 28th to November 1st, we’ll be hosting events, posting on social media, and writing articles about just that.

If you’re a young Muslim yourself, or even if you’re an ally to our community, can you sign up to participate in the #MuslimAnd Week of Action online and in your community?

Those who sign up will receive an event-in-a-box with all the materials you need to host an event on-campus or in your community, including:

  • #MuslimAnd Posters, stickers and placard cards to display around campus.
  • Ideas for what kind of event to hold and how to integrate social media to highlight the diversity of Muslim communities.
  • 10 I’m Muslim & I Might Not Be Straight brochures.
  • 10 I’m Muslim & My Gender Doesn’t Fit Me brochures.

So much has happened since the last #MuslimAnd Week of Action. Two badass Muslim women were elected to Congress (we see you Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib!). TV representation continues to grow, including Tan France's inspiring makeovers on Netflix's Queer Eye. And young Muslims across the country have continued to organize, fight for justice, come out, and break barriers. That’s the power of visibility. You can do your part too - during the #MuslimAnd Week of Action.  Sign up today!
