After Democrats won the Presidency, the House, and the Senate in 2020 with record turnout, Republicans started a mission to gut voting rights in states across the country, and they are pursuing their goal with vigor.

This year, over 361 bills to restrict voting rights have already been introduced in 47 states. Many are reminiscent of Jim Crow laws, targeted specifically to block Black voters and other voters of color from casting their ballots.

In Congress, Susan is fighting back against this rampant voter suppression by supporting bills that will ensure every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote. She personally introduced legislation that would explicitly allow food and water to be provided to voters while they wait in line to vote, a direct response to Georgia’s attempt to restrict voters waiting in hours-long lines from receiving sustenance.

Susan also supported the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, two bills that would make voting easier for eligible Americans and fight back against new discriminatory voting laws.
