Friend,
Today, as we kick off our Spring Campaign, the progressive movement faces an incredibly dangerous time.
Donald Trump is no longer in the White House, but his Big Lie that the U.S. election was stolen is fueling the largest attack on voting rights in the country since Jim Crow. Meanwhile, the most dire global problems we face—from the climate emergency to economic inequality to the ongoing pandemic—haven’t gone anywhere.
Amidst these crises, we are extremely worried that donor support and funding for progressive, independent news outlets like Common Dreams have dropped significantly since the beginning of the year.
Without the nonstop, rolling crisis of Donald Trump in the White House, too many grassroots progressives have simply stopped giving, and for a people-powered outlet like Common Dreams, that’s a recipe for disaster.
Listen, we understand why people would be looking for a break from politics after four years of the Trump nightmare. But Common Dreams has never been about just defeating one political party or another. Our mission has always been to inform, to inspire, and to ignite change for the common good—and that mission simply cannot survive without your support.
This is no time for progressives to become complacent. If you agree, will you make a donation to help us reach our crucial Spring Campaign goal of $70,000 by May 1?
