Hi John,

Today is 4/20 -- and while for many this day is cause for celebration, it always makes me think about the pressing need to legalize cannabis at the federal level.

When I think about the impact of marijuana legalization on a national scale, I think of the freedom that it would provide the estimated 40,000 people imprisoned for nonviolent marijuana offenses.

I think about how, in Pennsylvania, Governor Tom Wolf pardoned 69 of those people just last month -- which means they now get to build fulfilling careers, spend time with loved ones, and move on with their lives without the stigma of an arrest record.

And that's not to mention the medical benefits of marijuana for pain management, or the social programs that could be funded through federal taxes on marijuana sales.

In short, it's high time to legalize cannabis at the federal level -- and I need your help to make it happen.

Today, we're hoping to gather 420 signatures on our petition to let Congress know that legalization can't wait. Every signature will show our elected officials that we can't wait another year for this crucial legislation.

Add your name to our petition so that no one else -- especially overpoliced Black and Brown communities -- will have to suffer because of a marijuana conviction: [link removed] >> [link removed]

Thank you so much for seeing marijuana legalization for the justice issue that it is. Together, we can truly make a change.

Mary Gay
