Hi,
Last Earth Day, over 8.5 million people joined us for our Earth Day
Live livestream and over 100 million people took action for the planet
with volunteerism, civic action, teach-ins and more. This year, we’ll
reach millions more worldwide — and we want you to be part of it.
Regenerative Agriculture is a core pillar of Earth Day
2021’s Restore Our Earth theme. Read more about the campaign and tune in to the broadcast on April 22nd at noon
Eastern (GMT -4).
Our current industrialized food system and farming practices are
unsustainable.
Today’s agricultural practices are responsible for an
estimated one quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Experts predict that we have less than 60 years of healthy harvests
left and business-as-usual agriculture and loss of soil nutrients are
the culprits.
We need to learn and apply the techniques of regenerative
agriculture to transform our agricultural sector and help farmers
protect the health of their lands. Regenerative agriculture
is a holistic land management practice that encourages healthy soils
and sustainable land management while reducing emissions and
environmental damage caused by current farming practices.
On Earth Day, we’re talking to a wide range of experts and
influencers in the natural solutions movement, discussing everything
from biodiversity to food waste and upcycling to carbon sequestration
and plant-based diets. Our experts include:
- Dr. Sweta Chakraborty, Risk and Behavioral Scientist
- Dr. Jonathan Foley, Executive Director, Project Drawdown
- Dr. Michael Greger, Founder of NutritionFacts.org, Plant-based
physician, Author
- Andrea Illy, Chairman, illycafe
- Justin Kamine, Co-Founder and Partner, KDC.Earth
- Caue Suplicy, Founder and Chairman, Barnana
- Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations
Convention to Combat Desertification
- Anne Veneman, Former Secretary of the United States Department of
Agriculture
- Elizabeth Whitlow, Executive Director, Regenerative Organic

- A special TED Talk
To combat climate change, we need to look to nature for solutions
to transform how we interact with our environment and natural
resources. Through techniques such as regenerative agriculture,
planting trees, addressing food waste and adopting plant-based diets,
we can attack climate change on the individual and societal
levels.
What can you do? Educate yourself, your friends and your
family, and invite them to Earth Day and the movement. Read about our
Regenerative Agriculture campaign and test your knowledge with our
quiz, check out our Foodprints for the Future campaign which addresses the impact animal
agriculture has on ourselves and the planet and get involved in our
work year-round by becoming a member today.
