Local Elections 2021: MCB Launches Policy Pledges

Local elections being held across the UK on Thursday, 6 May 2021:

Local government | Mayoral Local and Combined Authority | Police and Crime Commissioner in England and Wales | Scottish Parliament | Senedd (Welsh Parliament) | Mayor of London and London Assembly

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is calling on all prospective candidates running in local elections on the 6th of May to commit to a list of policy pledges to support their local Muslim communities as we begin our recovery from COVID-19.

This set of policy specific pledges builds upon the work of MCB’s Ten Key Pledges ([link removed]) to Support Muslim Communities, originally released as part of a campaign to encourage Muslim voter registration ahead of the General Election in December 2019.

The MCB's Local Election 2021 Policy Pledges, are built around five key areas of interest:
1. Tackling Islamophobia
2. Investing in young people
3. Championing effective equality and diversity initiatives
4. Tackling the inequalities aggravated by COVID19
5. Promoting environmental sustainability

Each area of interest, in turn, stipulates several policy pledges we're asking candidates to commit to.

The full policy pledge document, including additional information and all associated points of action, is available here ([link removed]) . Our list of pledges can be viewed by clicking on the button below.
