“GOP’s proposed changes to Florida election laws will cost voters”
-- First Coast News
Friend,
When we saw Georgia pass a shameful voting rights bill, we had hoped Republican leaders in Florida would respond differently.
But Tallahassee Republicans had other plans in mind. Right now, they’re trying to copy Georgia for all the wrong reasons by passing their OWN massive voter suppression bill.

When states around the country took days to count their ballots last fall, Florida Republicans bragged that our election was one of the most well-run in our state’s history. This raises the question: If our voting systems have never worked better, why do they need to be changed?
The simple answer is that they don’t need to be changed. The proposed Republican bill makes it harder to vote by mail, limits ballot drop boxes, and imposes other restrictions not because it’s necessary to secure our elections, but because Republicans want to make it harder to vote. A majority of election supervisors across Florida -- both Republicans and Democrats -- agree that this bill is unnecessary, and they even issued a letter to lawmakers condemning the proposed legislation.
Stephanie believes we should make it easier for people to vote, not harder. That’s why she co-sponsored the For the People Act, because it combats voter suppression tactics like this (unsurprisingly, the GOP turned around and ran attack ads against her for supporting it!)
Tallahassee Republicans must stop trying to suppress the vote. Add your name and join the congresswoman in denouncing their actions.
