Who we elect matters.

There is no stronger evidence of that fact than the movement we have seen on important bills in the Washington state legislature this year. We have seen progress on bills that address climate action, environmental justice, voting rights, and much more.

With help from members like you WCV was able to elect and then support environmental champions as they moved vital bills to protect Washington’s communities and environment through the legislature.

Our successes are possible because of the hard work we did together to elect environmental champions to the State Senate and House. This year we are going to work to elect champions to local positions across the state like city and county council, and port commission.

These local races are important because they decide how our communities and the environment thrive together at the most basic level, from how to manage toxic stormwater pollution, to our transportation decisions, to how and where housing is built.

These local leaders can move us toward a clean energy future, lead on making our communities healthier, and protect our air and water. State policy drives change, but local leaders make it happen.
