Mega-retailer Amazon sells bee-killing pesticides. Will you donate to help call on Amazon to remove neonicotinoids from its site? DONATE:

Friend,

Evidence is piling up that bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides, or neonics, are doing serious harm to mammals as well.

Deer, raccoons, foxes, rabbits -- wild animals that feed on seeds contaminated by neonics -- are suffering from birth defects and organ damage.[1]

But despite overwhelming evidence that neonic pesticides are killing bees and doing irreparable harm to other wildlife, mega-retailer Amazon is still selling neonic pesticides. That's why Environment Colorado is calling on Amazon to remove all neonic pesticides from its shelves.

Will you donate to Environment Colorado's Earth Day Drive and help us end Amazon's sale of deadly neonics?

The damage caused by neonics to wildlife populations is nothing less than devastating.

The latest studies show that bees nesting in soil treated with neonics breed 89 percent less than bees in untreated soil.[2] Neonics interfere with bees' abilities to sleep, forage and travel, leading to a sharp decline in the population.[3]

Deer that eat neonic-coated seeds have decreased body weight and undersized organs, and one-third of their fawns die prematurely. Birds such as partridges die earlier as well.[4]

And sparrows who eat as few as four seeds treated with neonics have trouble with migrating.[5]

It's critical that we stop the use of neonicotinoid pesticides immediately. We've already convinced Home Depot and Lowe's, two of the largest home and garden stores in the country, to commit to begin removing products containing neonics from their shelves -- but Amazon has yet to follow their lead.

We've set a goal of raising $50,000 by midnight on Earth Day so that we can ramp up our campaign calling on Amazon to stop selling wildlife-killing pesticides, while we also petition the Environmental Protection Agency and Colorado to block the worst uses of neonics.

Will you donate to Environment Colorado and help us end the use of neonicotinoids and preserve bee habitat?

Yes, I'll donate to Environment Colorado's Earth Day Drive today.
