I hope you are all doing well and looking forward to some warm Spring weather.

I am writing to let you know a little bit about what I have been up to, since you haven’t heard from me in a while.

When my campaign for Congress ended, I took some much-needed time to rest and relax with my family and friends and to reflect on how I can continue to be of service to my community and my country. I have lived in Atlantic County my entire life and I am raising my family here, so no matter what the next phase of my professional life brings, I will always fight for South Jersey in any way I can.

As I spoke about often during my campaign, the mental health of our children and young adults, particularly as it manifests in our educational system, is an issue that I am passionate about, and living through a global pandemic has made the need for school-based mental health services and support even more acute. Unfortunately, the statistical and anecdotal evidence is clear—our kids are struggling in very real ways.

That is why I made mental health a cornerstone of my campaign platform and it is why, as Education Director of The Kennedy Forum, I am continuing to advocate for policy change at the community, state and national level so that we can give our kids the support and services they need to thrive physically, mentally and emotionally. I recently wrote several op-eds and a blog post about the need to invest in mental health programs within our schools. You can read them here.

I have also been out in the community lending my voice and my support for causes I believe in. I was honored to be invited to speak at Stockton University to commemorate Black History Month and to discuss the ongoing fight for social justice here in South Jersey and across the country.

I will continue to keep you updated periodically about what I am doing. I hope you will join me in making your voice heard and finding a way to be of service to your community in any way that you can.

All the best,
Amy
