Associate Administrator Patrick Kelley and members of the agency's Office
of Capital Access, to discuss credit unions' efforts to expand access to
credit to small businesses across the nation and their participation in SBA lending programs.
House
sends marijuana banking bill to Senate
The House Monday passed legislation
that would provide a safe harbor for credit unions and other lenders that serve
marijuana-related businesses (MRBs) in states that have legalized marijuana. The
House passed the bill in 2019, but it was never taken up by the Senate. The House
also passed these provisions in its proposed HEROES Act relief package last spring.
CFPB
requires debt collectors to inform tenants of eviction rights
The CFPB
Monday issued an interim final rule (IFR) that requires debt collectors to provide
tenants with written notice of their rights under the eviction moratorium issued
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amid the coronavirus pandemic.
This rule applies to third-party debt collectors, but could impact credit unions that work with third-party collectors.

insights and recommendations in response to the Federal Housing Finance Agency's
(FHFA) request for information (RFI) on climate change and natural disaster risk
to the housing finance system and the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs).

to SBC: Support changes that allow all CUs to serve underserved areas
NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler Monday wrote to the Senate
Banking Committee to urge the committee to support a change to the Federal Credit
Union Act that would allow all types of credit unions to add underserved areas
to their field of membership. The letter, sent ahead of today's hearing examining
the economy in rural communities, also highlighted how credit unions have stepped
up for their communities throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
