Tomorrow, Alexandria and Sen. Ed Markey will reintroduce their landmark Green New Deal resolution in Congress.
In just the two years since their resolution was first introduced in Congress, the Green New Deal has gained strong momentum. It is one of the most popular policy proposals in the country with 57% of voters in favor of their congresspeople cosponsoring the resolution.1
We’ve also seen countless other bills introduced that have adopted the same approach of prioritizing jobs, justice, and climate together — like the Green New Deal for Public Housing introduced by Senator Sanders, and the Green New Deal For Cities that Rep. Cori Bush introduced today.

Simply put, the Green New Deal – modeled on FDR’s New Deal – is a plan for confronting our climate crisis by creating tens of millions of good-paying, union jobs making our infrastructure sustainable and resilient to extreme weather and ensuring everyone has access to clean air and water.
Frontline communities — like coal towns, Indigenous communities, and communities of color — that have been disproportionately impacted by climate change will be prioritized both in funding and in the policy decision making process. No one gets left behind and no one gets left out.
But the lies and propaganda from right-wing Republicans around the Green New Deal are harmful and constant.
