Salam John,
I'm reaching out to cordially invite you to the Austin City Wide Iftar this Sunday, April 25th, at 5:00 PM. A virtual Iftar featuring community leaders and elected officials, this Sunday's event is one you do not want to miss!

This event also marks the final 5 weeks of the 2021 legislative session in Texas. Emgage Action has been working tirelessly to engage the Texas Legislature on a set of issues that our community prioritizes. This includes Muslim-specific issues, advocating for a fair redistricting process, religious freedom and minority rights, combating voter suppression, and partnering with our allies to support criminal justice reform and center human rights.
Our Texas team has already testified in redistricting hearings and pushed forward bills directly impacting the Muslim community, such as adding Eid Al-Adha and Eid-Al Fitr as optional state holidays, recognizing Imams as religious leaders who can perform marriage ceremonies, and requiring health care facilities to remove all medical equipment from a deceased person prior to the body being transported for ghusl/Islamic ritual washing.
Our bills have strong bipartisan support and we are motivated to continue on the path of sustained engagement with policymakers in order to secure our rights and interests as a community. But we cannot do it without your support.
As we continue to fight for our legislative agenda, will you make a Ramadan donation right now to support our efforts to uplift the Muslim Community in Texas? |
