On Friday, the Texas House advanced a bill that would allow permitless, background-check free gun purchases in Texas.
On Sunday, there was another mass shooting - this time in Austin. Three people died, and it easily could have been more. Like many other examples of gun violence, the victims appear to be the family of the shooter.
The more guns are in a state, the more mass shootings, family murders, and suicides that state will have. Allowing more people to carry more guns into more places will mean more needless deaths. It’s that simple.
The proposal to allow permitless gun purchases and carry is unbelievably reckless - and right now, it does NOT have the votes needed to pass in the Texas Senate. We can stop this legislation if we keep the pressure on.
Can you take a moment to send a message to your state Senator telling them to fight this dangerous proposal to allow gun purchases and concealed carry without a permit in Texas?
This bill is dangerous. Republicans even voted down an amendment to exclude white supremacists from being allowed to purchase guns under this law.
But we can stop it, if we act quickly.
