Hi Supporter,

Earth Day is in just a few days, and it could not be more urgent this year. So today we're launching our Earth Day campaign drive for a livable planet for all—and it's clear how important this is, and that it will take all of us. We must create communities that are truly just, safe, and equitable for all.

And this year, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create real and lasting change for our planet and communities. It's why this Earth Day is especially powerful. And we have a lot of ground to make up: for four years, our public lands weathered relentless attacks by the most anti-environment president in U.S. history. The Trump administration systematically rolled back environmental protections, shrank national monuments, leased pristine public lands for oil and gas development at bargain-basement prices.

This is also a window of opportunity that we may never see again. This Earth Day marks a second chance for the planet, as we strive to reverse the toxic Trump legacy and restore our wild places. Here are just a few of the conservation and clean energy goals we hope to accomplish by April 22, 2022,

with your Sierra Club support :

- Restore Bears' Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante monuments.
- Investments in community driven urban parks and green spaces to ensure that all communities benefit from a direct connection to nature.
- Continue to push for policies that advance our 30 X 30 Conservation Agenda, to protect 30% of our lands and waters by 2030.
- End new leasing of fossil fuels on public lands and permanently block the dangerous Alton coal mine expansion currently threatening Utah's Bryce Canyon.
- Reinstate the clean car standards through 2025 models, and coordinate with states to adopt the Clean Trucks Rule. Our advocacy team is also working hard to pass vital democracy reforms, while our grassroots team is organizing at the state level to ensure President Biden's infrastructure plan addresses climate change through clean jobs and strict pollution standards and we're pushing for passage of the Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act in the Senate. But we simply can't do it all without the dependable support of our monthly donors.

While we have huge opportunities with the new administration, make no mistake, there are still powerful and well-funded adversaries between us and every environmental reform.

The fossil fuel industry will certainly fight us in court over the moratorium we're urging the Biden administration to instill on new leasing on public lands. Big Oil and Gas and the uranium and coal mining industries won't go quietly over the re-establishing of the original boundaries of Bears' Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante monuments either. And we'll surely have to push vehicle manufacturers to accelerate the deployment of electric cars, trucks and buses.

As you can see, this is 24/7, 365-day-a-year work that's only possible with the reliable support of our monthly donors.

P.S. Earth Month is a time to celebrate the fact that our lands, air, water and communities belong to we the people—not corporations, lobbyists or government institutions.
