Hi John,
In the wake of our 2020 victories, we saw an abhorrent, restrictive voting bill pass in Georgia that targeted voters of color -- and now, we're seeing the same tactics being used by Texas Republicans.
The Texas GOP is trying to outlaw several key voting practices, including drive-through voting, sending mail-in ballot applications to registered voters, and allowing voters to register with PO box addresses. Harris County, Texas implemented all these practices in 2020 to make voting easier, and now the GOP is trying to revoke them. Harris County also just happens to have the largest AAPI population in the state.
This is a blatant attempt to silence communities of color at the ballot box, John. We know that if we fight hard, we can prevent this prohibitive bill from passing, but it's already made its way through the state Senate and is now being considered by the House.
We need every resource in our arsenal to fight this restrictive legislation, but we're still running $355 short of our daily fundraising goal.
