Folks,

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve seen a spike in violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community across the country. In 2020 alone, anti-Asian hate crimes increased 150%. That’s plain wrong and we need to crack down on it.

I’m a proud co-sponsor of Senator Mazie Hirono’s COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which would significantly step up the Department of Justice’s work to combat hate crimes committed against these communities.

We, as a nation, cannot tolerate this hate directed at our friends and neighbors. We must stand up for what’s right, which is why I’m asking:

Will you sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act and demand the Senate pass this bill immediately?

Look, it’s no surprise anti-Asian hate crimes are on the rise after Donald Trump and his Administration repeatedly called COVID-19 race-baiting names that stoked anger towards the AAPI community.

Words matter. And this type of environment has given rise to racist attacks on innocent people, including the tragic murders of six Asian-American women during a targeted mass shooting in Atlanta. Enough is enough.

The wave of anti-Asian violence sweeping our country must stop. Sign your name to demand the Senate pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.

We cannot allow this hatred and violence to continue. We must take a stand.
