Republicans know exactly what they're doing, John. They know that gerrymandering and voter suppression can help them take the U.S. House in 2022 -- and maybe even the Senate. Here's how:

• ★ Democrats' House majority is only 6 seats. A Cook Political Report analysis shows that if Republicans are able to manipulate the maps again, the House could flip without a single vote being cast.
• ★ In tight races, every vote makes a difference. So if the GOP is able to keep some voters from casting ballots by making voting more difficult, they could tip the scales in future House, Senate, and presidential elections.

It's no wonder Republicans are DESPERATE to block the passage of the For the People Act, which would take on both voter suppression and congressional gerrymandering. But that's exactly why we have to fight so hard for it -- because they are using every possible underhanded scheme to retain minority rule, but this legislation can stop them.
