Legislation: Reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act -- Bill to renew VAWA, landmark legislation strengthening domestic violence protections for women, which expired under the Trump administration; Allowing for eventual ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment -- Legislation to allow the Equal Rights Amendment, codifying women's equal rights into the Constitution, to be passed after the original deadline; Expanding background checks for gun sales -- Two bills to strengthen background check procedures before people can buy guns -- by closing the ''Charleston loophole,'' which allowed gun sales to go through before a background check was completed, and by requiring a background check for every gun sale; The American Rescue Plan -- President Biden's COVID-19 relief package, which provided survival checks to families, funding to re-open schools safely, and benefits that will cut child poverty in half; The For the People Act -- Legislation that will protect voting rights, increase the security of our elections from foreign influence, and reduce the impact of dark money in our politics.
