John,
Have you seen this?
Democrats in Congress just introduced a bill that would expand the Supreme Court from 9 to 13 justices.
If this bill were to pass, it would give the Biden Administration the ability to add 4 new justices of their choosing to the bench and would seriously diminish the impact of the qualified conservative justices that have been legitimately added to our nation’s highest court over the last four years.
Look, you don’t have to take my word for it — the words of the late RBG, then-Senator Joe Biden, AND Justice Stephen Breyer can tell you exactly why expanding the court is a terrible idea.
Just take a look: The Late Ruth Bader Ginsberg said: “If anything would make the court appear partisan, it would be that. One side saying when we’re in power, we’re going to enlarge the number of judges so we will have more people who vote the way we want them to. So I am not at all, in favor of that solution to what I see as a temporary situation.” Then-Senator Joe Biden recalling FDR’s power grab attempt a “bonehead idea:” “It was a terrible, terrible mistake to make. And it put in question, if for an entire decade, the independence of the most significant body … in this country, the Supreme Court of the United States of America.” And finally, Justice Stephen Breyer. Yes, the sitting Justice that liberal Democrats are calling on to retire said: “The Supreme Court is guided by legal principle, not politics. Structural alteration motivated by the perception of political influence can only feed that latter perception, further eroding that trust.” The Democrats’ court-packing bill is not only hypocritical, it’s a reckless and short-sighted partisan move that will only further divide our nation and government.
It’s just another reason why it is imperative that we do everything we can to take back the majorities in the House and Senate.
John, I’m asking you to stand with me against this ridiculous power grab. Will you chip in $10 to help us build the resources we need for 2022?
I appreciate your support, Mike Gallagher
