The filibuster has been used for decades to stop progressive changes in their tracks. Republicans are leveraging the filibuster to hold the Democratic majority to the GOP's agenda, and it's time we put a stop to it.
We have made too much progress in 2020 to start backtracking now. We can't stand idly by as Republicans lift COVID-19 safety protocols preemptively, create harmful voter suppression laws, and further threaten our democracy. We need to take a stand.
With the filibuster in place, the GOP can block the passage of critical legislation. There's no other way to put it: The filibuster threatens the future of our democracy. We have a strong coalition of supporters who know this is the biggest obstacle standing in the way of our progress. Now it's time we act.

When Mitch McConnell found it politically advantageous, he circumvented the filibuster to get Trump's Supreme Court nominees through. Now that the Senate has a 50-50 split, it is difficult to pass critical pieces of legislation when the Republican party cherrypicks how to use the filibuster to get their way. We need to abolish the filibuster so the GOP won't continue to lean on it when they're in the minority and throw it out when they're in the majority.
