After Trump enacted his xenophobic Muslim ban, physicians wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine that it would harm our healthcare, especially in rural areas.
Before the ban, 24% of practicing physicians in the U.S. were international graduates on visas encouraging them to practice in medically-underserved areas of the U.S.
Despite a shortage of rural doctors, racist travel bans were separating medical personnel from their families abroad, and keeping them from re-entering the US.
We must never allow another Muslim ban. That’s why we need the NO BAN Act now, which stops discriminatory travel bans.

Science magazine reported that promising scholars from Muslim-majority countries were less likely to come to the US, opting instead to give their talents to Canada.
