ACT NOW: Uighur Genocide Recognition Debate [22/04/2021]

On Thursday 22nd April 2021, the House of Commons will vote on a motion to recognise and designate China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims in East Turkestan (Xinjiang) as a genocide.

The Genocide Recognition Debate is important – it will recognise the ongoing plight of Uighur and other Turkic Muslims at the hands of the Chinese State.

** On the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudree (R.A.) who said:
------------------------------------------------------------

** I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim: 49 (a)]

2. Email your MP the following:

"On 22 April 2021, the House of Commons will be voting on the motion proposed by Nus Ghani MP on whether to declare that a genocide is being committed by China against millions of Uighurs and other Turkic Muslim minorities in Xinjiang, and calling upon the government to fulfil its obligations under the Genocide Convention to put a stop to this atrocity.

As your constituent, I urge you to please vote in favour of this extremely important motion.

The passing of this motion will be a significant moral and diplomatic statement, paving the way for further substantive action under international law - and through political channels - whilst proving to be a crucial step towards putting an end to the appalling human rights abuses being committed against Uighur Muslims.

I once again urge you to vote in favour of this motion and demonstrate Parliament’s commitment to upholding basic human rights.

Yours sincerely,
