Wishing all of our friends and allies a blessed Ramadan!
This year, Ramadan commenced on the evening of April 12th, 2021, and will continue until May, 12th, Inshallah. Ramadan is the month when the Quran (the holy book for Muslims) was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him). As one of the five pillars of our faith, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk to help deepen our empathy and devotion to God.
Ramadan is also a month of charitable giving. Muslims around the world distribute charity (or Zakat) to help the less fortunate. MCN is proud to have recognized programs that are Zakat eligible.
They are:
1. MCN Serves Community Service Program that helps feed families and individuals in need through our Interfaith Soup Kitchen; Eid Toy Drive; Ramadan food drives; and our COVID-19 Hotline cash assistance program.
 
2. Muslim Youth NYC Youth Program: a program that helps develop the civic leadership of Muslim youth from a faith-based perspective and helps them explore their identity as Muslim Americans.
 
3. MCN's Community Education Program: this includes our Diversity Education program teaching the general public about Islam to dispel misconceptions; our coalition work with Muslim Stakeholders, and our community workshops to help the Muslim community navigate the civic and social life of our nation.
 
We encourage all of our supporters, friends, and allies, to make a donation to MCN in any amount. $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, or $500. Each donation goes into helping us being able to provide a meal to someone in need; help someone with cash assistance in an emergency, or is a gesture to combat hate and stereotyping of Muslims.
