John,

Over the weekend, my friend and colleague Delegate Elizabeth Guzman decided to suspend her historic campaign for Lt. Governor.

As an immigrant and woman of color, it’s impossible to overstate how important Delegate Guzman’s voice has been throughout this primary. I would like to thank her for running an inspiring, strong campaign focused on real issues that matter to Virginians.

I know firsthand the challenges and barriers that women of color face when running for office, and I am so grateful for Delegate Guzman’s work to empower diverse leaders across our Commonwealth.

John, it’s no secret that there are not enough women of color in the halls of leadership. But I know in my heart that we can change this and give women and families of color the representation they deserve — that’s why I’m running for office.

We have a real shot at making history by electing the first woman of color as Lt. Governor in the Commonwealth, but the road ahead won’t be easy and I can’t do it without your help. So if you can, I hope you will support my campaign for Lt. Governor and join me in fighting to make sure all of us have a seat at the decision-making table.

I’m incredibly grateful for this team. If we all work together and dig deep these last couple of weeks, we can win this race and make progress on the issues that matter.
