Vaccination Updates
There's been a lot happening with vaccines this week, so I wanted to give you some updates on what's going on with vaccines in the 13th District.
As of today, all of Virginia is in Phase 2 of the vaccination process. All adults over the age of 16 can now register for the COVID-19 vaccine, and we anticipate that all adults who want a vaccine will have at least their first dose by the end of May.
The use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been paused by the FDA due to concerns about certain types of blood clots. There have only been a handful of cases out of over 7,000,000 doses given, but additional investigation is being done out of an abundance of caution. If you received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, don't panic -- these blood clots are extremely rare. However, if you experience symptoms such as severe headaches, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks of receiving a Johnson & Johnson vaccine, please contact your doctor or primary care physician.
For those in PWC who are in need of transportation to their vaccine appointment, OmniRide local buses provide transportation to the Gander Mountain and Manassas Mall vaccination sites.
You can view the weekly vaccine dashboard for Loudoun County here, and you can view the vaccine dashboard for Prince William County here.
If you are not already signed up for your free COVID-19 vaccine, please visit vaccinate.virginia.gov or call 877-VAX-IN-VA between the hours of 8am and 8pm, 7 days a week.
