THIS IS THE MOVEMENT TO PUT
Friend, Did you see the news this week of Marjorie Taylor Greene's planned "America First Caucus," which has already attracted the likes of Matt Gaetz (who I recently called on to resign) and other "Big Lie" members of Congress? If so, you were likely disgusted, as was I.
The so-called "America First" Caucus would be an official, organized effort within Congress to "follow in President Trump's footsteps," espouse anti-immigrant policies, and claim America's strength comes from "uniquely Anglo-Saxon" political traditions and European heritage. Perhaps these guys never learned Europe's political tradition is monarchy. More importantly, this group also forgets that we are a nation of immigrants, and all of our backgrounds, traditions, and values make us stronger, not weaker. In 2021, we shouldn't have to remind folks that "American doesn't mean White," but here we are. While Country First's aim is not to be prescriptive on matters of policy, I do want you to know we stand against this ugly nativism and veiled racism; so should the Republican Party. That's why I called for anyone who joins this caucus to be stripped of their committee assignments and expelled from the Republican Conference. We can't stop anyone from calling themselves a Republican, but we sure as hell can make it clear they're not welcome.
Speaking of who is welcome, Country First is calling for volunteers to help us win our first race: the May 1st Special Election for TX-06. Country First has endorsed Michael Wood, and we need your help. We're holding a big Day of Action on Sunday, April 25th, which will consist of in-person door knocking in Arlington, TX and virtual phone banking (that can be done from anywhere). Please RSVP as soon as possible and get some friends involved with you! It should be a lot of fun -- my wife and I are looking forward to it!
Finally, we have a new Country First Conversations podcast episode that I hope you'll check out. I sat down with former RNC Chairman and Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele to discuss the role of money in today's political landscape, the impact of public campaign financing, and how to improve things going forward. You can listen to this and previous episodes on any podcast network (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.) or through our website.
That was a lot, so I'll leave it there for now. More exciting things are in the works, so stay turned. And thanks, as always, for all of the encouragement and support. Country First, Adam
