Friend,

Earlier today, President Donald Trump publicly urged that China investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, and reiterated his call for Ukraine to investigate the Bidens.

This is Trump’s theory:

If he keeps committing impeachable offenses, but does it loudly and in the light of day, he can somehow normalize that behavior and escape accountability.

We can’t let that happen.

Add your name now to the call to impeach Trump.

We are in a dangerous time.

Trump is a cornered, raging bull, and he’s going to do everything he can to protect himself, without regard to the damage to other humans or the republic.

In the past week, he has:

  • Threatened that impeachment could subject the country to a “civil war-like fracture,” a plain incitement to violence.

  • Urged that the identity of the whistleblower who first surfaced during the Ukraine allegations should be revealed, in violation of hard-fought protections for those who raise objections to government misconduct.

  • Said those who gave information to the whistleblower should be treated as spies and executed.

  • Claimed that members of Congress are guilty of treason, a crime punishable by death.

What’s happening here is a lot worse than a coarsening of the public debate or the rise of incivility.

In addition to his increasingly blatant abuses of power, Trump is toying with domestic political violence.

We’ve already seen that his winks and nods encourage extremists to commit racist acts of terror.

And now he’s moving beyond winks and nods.

We, of course, must maintain our civility.

But we also must respond with clarity and determination.

This is not normal.

This is not alright.

This is abuse of power.

This is impeachable.

Add your name now.

These petitions matter, because it is crucial that we display mounting public support for impeachment and accountability.

That’s how we make our champions stronger, persuade those who are wavering and weaken the resolve of those inclined to defend Trump (especially those who know they are wrong but think it’s the politically savvy thing to do.)

Onward,
