This tweet
just about sums up the state of things in Congress right now:
[ New ]New York Times tweet: President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure
plan has yet to win over a single Republican in Congress, but it is
broadly popular with voters nationwide. Republican leaders are aiming to
turn voters by attacking corporate tax increases.
That’s right: Republicans are planning to fight corporate tax increases
during a crisis that’s left millions of families struggling to afford food
and pay rent — all while corporations and billionaires get even richer.
I’ve long known that progressive change isn’t handed to us. WE organize to
make it happen. As an activist, I helped make Seattle the first major city
in America to increase the minimum wage to $15, even though big
corporations tried to stop us at every turn. And I continue that fight in
Congress today, along with the many other fights that you know I hold dear
to my heart — making the rich pay their fair share, getting big money out
of politics, Medicare for All, a humane immigration system, racial
justice, LGBTQ+ equality, and so much more — because working families are
counting on us.

Friday. But if we can raise $4,123 by midnight tonight, our fundraising
will be right back on track. Will you chip in $3 or more
right now? I don’t take a cent of corporate PAC money, which makes
small-dollar contributions from emails like this one all the more
critical:
