Although there is no evidence of systematic fraud, lawmakers in 43 states are
debating, and in Iowa’s case, passing bills that would limit ballot access.

Iowa Republicans are approving bills left and right that are aimed directly at
our voting rights. Iowa’s Governor recently signed a bill into law aimed at:

* Limiting absentee ballot collection
* Shortening the state's early voting period by nearly two weeks
* And creating new criminal charges for county auditors

There are two bills waiting in Congress as we speak that could protect us. One
would protect millions of people’s right to vote by ensuring that every state
offers early voting, universal access to mail-in voting, and same-day voter
registration for federal elections. It would also enact sweeping
anti-corruption reforms.

The second bill would empower the federal government to pre-clear voting laws
that could be potentially racially discriminatory.

These are vital pieces of legislation, both aimed at protecting the sanctity
of our democracy.
