March On Voting Rights Task Force

Dear Friend,

Last week, Texas Republicans advanced one of the most restrictive election bills in decades.

Texas lawmakers advance restrictive election bill

The bill imposes criminal penalties for errors in the election process, such as making it a felony to give someone an absentee ballot without their request.

While Governor Greg Abbott said the bill’s aim is to “reduce the likelihood” of voter fraud, there is no evidence of voter fraud in Texas, or anywhere in the nation.

Let’s be clear: After Texas saw a record voter turnout this election cycle, Republicans are scared that they will lose their power. This bill is aimed at intimidating voters by making seemingly normal parts of elections punishable by law.

The bill has been widely criticized by Democrats, corporations, and voting rights activists.

We MUST take action. H.R. 1 is a federal bill that, if passed, can put a stop to Republican voter suppression bills across the country.

At March On, we’re also mounting the largest pressure campaign in history to pass H.R. 1 at the federal level and make Texas’s law obsolete. Please click below to call your representative and urge them to pass H.R. 1. There’s even a script on the page for your convenience.

Why do we need to ensure the passage of H.R. 1?

  • It would enact nationwide Automatic Voter Registration
  • It would put an end to partisan gerrymandering
  • It would require Trump and future Presidents to disclose their taxes
  • It would expand eligible days and hours to vote, shortening lines and providing greater access to participate in democracy
  • And it would stop state Republicans from passing dozens of racist, anti-democratic voter suppression laws before 2020

We can’t stand for Republican voter suppression any longer.

So as a Democrat, a progressive, and a March On activist, we’re calling on you and your network to take action today to help Democrats pass H.R. 1.

We’re running out of time to make a difference, so please click below now:

We appreciate all that you do.
