Hi — I’m writing to share a quick update on my latest work in Congress. As always, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note with any questions or feedback. I hope you and your family are safe and healthy.

1.     COVID-19 Relief: Expanding Vaccine Distribution, Helping Small Businesses, & Cutting Taxes for Families.
-I helped pass the latest COVID-19 relief package to ensure our communities distribute vaccines widely, get our kids and teachers back in school safely, cut taxes, lower healthcare costs, and deliver federal dollars to every town and county in the Fifth District.
-I joined local small business owners in Allendale to discuss how we’re supporting restaurants and live venues, including extending the period to apply for federal PPP loans. Read more at North-JerseyNews.com.
-I fought to include dedicated investment to help our communities connect to broadband internet and for strike teams to help prevent COVID outbreaks at nursing homes.
-I helped deliver Meals on Wheels to seniors in the Fifth District for nutrition and wellness programs for seniors. More on NJ food security in the Pascack Press, in WRNJ Radio here and here, and at LehighValleyLive.com.

2.     Pushing For Strong Infrastructure Investment to Fix Our Crumbling Roads, Bridges, Tunnels, and Keep Our Water Clean.
-I held an event with labor leaders at a crumbling bridge in Teaneck to further the call for the critical investment we need to make our transportation infrastructure safer, reduce traffic, create good-paying jobs, improve broadband internet access, and reinvigorate our economy. Read more in Teaneck Patch, at WRNJ Radio, and watch on ABC 7.

3.     Fighting to Get Children Back Into Classrooms Safely.
-Read the op-ed I co-authored in NJ.com about the urgency of getting our teachers vaccinated and at school.
-I visited vaccination sites, including the Valley Hospital’s Paramus location and Holy Name Medical Center’s Teaneck site to say thank you to our frontline health care heroes. Read more in Paramus Patch.

4.     Fighting For Lower Taxes and to Restore the SALT Deduction.
-Ever since the 2017 Tax Hike Bill slammed New Jersey families by raising our taxes and capping the SALT Deduction, I’ve been fighting to reverse this wrong. Now, I’m helping to lead the broad bipartisan call to lift the cap, reinstate SALT, and actually cut taxes. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has pledged to work with me on a fix.
-I talked about SALT and much more with David Wildstein (I've said clearly: No SALT, No dice), host of the New Jersey Globe Power Hour on Talk Radio 77-WABC.
-I helped start the new bipartisan SALT Caucus this week. Read more on The Hill and NJ.com. Read the latest SALT updates in Bloomberg and New Jersey Globe and watch on CNBC.

5.     Standing Up Against Hate, Bigotry, and Discrimination.
-I was honored to have my colleague Rep. Andy Kim join me, local leaders, and students for a virtual roundtable on fighting the rise in hateful incidents targeting our AAPI communities (see WFMZ-TV).
-I stood in solidarity with the North Jersey community at a candlelight vigil in Dumont to stop hate and discrimination. Read at INSIDER NJ.

6.     Standing Up For New Jersey Commuters Against New York’s Proposed Congestion Tax.
-I teamed up with Rep. Bill Pascrell to fight back against New York’s unfair plan to slam New Jersey commuters with a new congestion tax (what I call the Manhattan Moocher Tax) that would cost middle-class families an additional $3,000 a year on top of the already absurd $4,000 in tolls commuters already pay to drive into Manhattan. Watch on ABC-7, CBS-2, and read at NJ.com.

7.     Working to Break the Gridlock and Solve Problems.
-Read in POLITICO about my efforts to work across the aisle.
-As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, I also joined MSNBC to discuss how both parties can work together to solve our toughest challenges.
-Last week, I traveled to our southern border with a delegation of the Problem Solvers Caucus to meet with law enforcement and humanitarian groups, as we develop bipartisan solutions on immigration and border security.

8.     Protecting Our Seniors Against Financial Scammers.
-I visited CareOne at the Cupola in Paramus to introduce my bipartisan Senior Security Act to safeguard our seniors against scammers.

9.     Leading the Bipartisan Effort against the Nuclear-Armed, Terror-Obsessed Iran.
-Read about how I’m working to ensure the U.S. stands strong against this threat in the Jewish Insider and the Jerusalem Post.

10.  Ensuring Our Veterans Have Convenient Local Access to Healthcare and Vital Services.
-I’m working to bring a new Vet Center to Northwest New Jersey to better serve our many veterans in the area. Read more at WRNJ Radio and North-JerseyNews.com.

11.  Virtual Town Halls.
-Thank you to the many Fifth District residents who joined me for our 60th Cup of Joe!

Please don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and on Facebook and to please reach out to me at [email protected] if you need anything.
I’d also be grateful if you’d consider contributing here to support a common-sense leader.
As always, please stay safe, and please look out for your neighbors and loved ones.

Yours,
Josh
