John, in 2019 the number of Liberal Democrats on City of York Council almost doubled - from 11 to 21! Since then we have been able to protect every library - we have even opened a couple more. Now York has 16 libraries and three reading cafes.
We are also planning to revamp libraries and transform them into hubs for creativity and culture - ensuring their long term future.
Libraries represent the beating heart of community life. From parent-child groups, to study sessions and book clubs, libraries bring locals together. And no other party understands the importance of the local community better than the Liberal Democrats.
Find out more about the fantastic work done by Liberal Democrat Councils up and down the country: Will you vote Liberal Democrat on May 6th and elect councillors that champion community life?
