The Supreme Court is broken, friends.

In 2016, Senate Republicans blocked President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland for almost an entire year. They argued that during a presidential election year, we needed to wait and let the American people decide who should fill the vacancy.

Then this past October, following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, they rushed to confirm Amy Coney Barrett and lock in a 6-3 supermajority on the Court, just days before the election and as millions of ballots across the country had already been cast.

So much for letting the American people decide.

The GOP stole two seats on the Supreme Court — that is a fact. Now it’s up to us to undo that damage, restore our democracy, and create a judicial branch that truly represents, understands, and serves the American people.

That’s why I just partnered with my colleague in the House Mondaire Jones, Hank Johnson, and Jerry Nadler to introduce the Judiciary Act of 2021 — a bill which would add four seats to the Supreme Court and right the wrongs that have corrupted our justice system. It’s also why I’m asking you directly:
