Friend: It's time to grant statehood to Washington, D.C. Without a voting representative in Congress, over 700,000 residents of D.C. do not have anyone to speak out on their behalf at the federal level.
These residents pay their fair share of federal taxes, and yet they have no voice at the table. That's why they received $755 million less in COVID-19 relief than every other state.
But right now, Republicans in Congress refuse to grant D.C. statehood – all to suppress a voting block that leans blue, a majority of whom are Black voters. It is one of the most glaring civil rights issues of our time.
That's why Chrissy was a co-sponsor for HR 51, a bill that would secure statehood for D.C., but she wants to know where you stand, Friend:
Do you think Washington, D.C. should become a state?
