Dear Friend,

Now we know why, even though less pesticides are being used, more bees are dying.

Research shows that just a few particles of these potent pesticides brought into hives cause permanent brain damage in baby bees, contributing to colony collapse.[1]

Bees and other pollinators that we depend on for our food supply are being wiped out, and Environment Colorado is working to stop the worst uses of bee-killing pesticides. This Earth Day, we've set a $50,000 goal to help save the bees from pesticides, habitat loss and climate change. Will you donate today?

Yes, I'll donate to help meet Environment Colorado's Earth Day goal and save the bees.

In defending highly toxic pesticides, pesticide companies point to the fact that they've decreased their use by 40 percent since 2005.[2]

But that's only because pesticide companies have created more potent chemicals, doubling their toxicity to bees and insects. In fact, some neonicotinoids, or neonics, are 10,000 times deadlier than DDT.[3]

Ninety percent of wild flowering plants need animal pollinators like bees -- and it's up to us to save them.

But it isn't just bees that are threatened by neonics -- these pesticides are toxic to fish, birds, people and other mammals. They need to be stopped.

Environment Colorado is working on this problem from every angle. Our national network is poised to win partial neonic bans in Maine and New Jersey -- and we're working to make Colorado next.

At the same time, we're lobbying the Environmental Protection Agency to ban the worst uses of bee-killing pesticides, and we're asking President Biden to reinstate the ban on neonics in wildlife refuges.

And we're calling on Amazon to pull neonics from its inventory. Five years ago, we successfully urged Home Depot and Lowe's to take neonics off their shelves, and even though there's still work to be done on removing these bee-killing pesticides, it led to progress: Both companies have taken important steps to phase out neonics.

These are campaigns that we know we can win, but only with your help. Will you make your Earth Day gift today?

Of course, this is on top of our other ongoing work to stop offshore drilling, protect endangered wildlife, and move to 100 percent renewable energy, among other critical campaigns.

Earth Day is the one day a year we not only celebrate our planet, but remember the hard work it takes to keep our air, water and land healthy. We need to raise $50,000 to advocate for a greener, cleaner, healthier planet -- will you donate?

Yes, in honor of Earth Day, I'll donate to Environment Colorado to help save the bees and so much more.
