Africa & Europe
- Praise God for a conviction in a case of trafficking in Ghana. Addo*, a 12-year-old boy, had been forced to fish on Lake Volta for several years and was brought to freedom last fall. Pray that the conviction and sentencing of the perpetrator in his case to seven years in prison would be an effective deterrent and result in fewer people trafficking children. Please continue to pray also for Addo as he is reunited with his mother and twin brother.
Latin America
- Ask God for continual renewal of strength and dynamism for our teams across the Latin America regions. As the lasting challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to impact their persistent pursuit of justice for the most vulnerable, pray that their team unity would be evident and their spirits would stay strong, so that they can creatively find ways to fight uncertainty and strengthen justice systems.
South Asia
- Praise God for the recent conviction of a business owner who had held nine people in bonded labor for up to 15 years. This man ran his wood-cutting business by trapping impoverished families with false debts and then moving them around constantly so they could never seek help. After a nine-year trial, he was found guilty, sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay compensation to the survivors. Pray this will be an encouragement to these families as they continue to rebuild, and praise God for the courts who prioritized this case even during COVID-related lockdowns.
Southeast Asia
- Pray for next week's Synergy and Alignment Summit, hosted by the IJM Global Hub Against Online Sexual Exploitation of Children. Pray that this summit will be a great time for all attendees to dig into IJM's global direction and long-term strategic goals.
