Victory! Mastercard Adds New Rules to Confront Pornography Tube Site Abuses

With newly instituted rules for payment processing on pornography tube sites, Mastercard sets a standard that will surely have to become industry-wide soon.

Banks that process payments for pornography tube sites "will need to certify that the seller of adult content has effective controls in place to monitor, block and, where necessary, take down all illegal content." Mastercard will also require the pornography websites to document the age and identity of anyone depicted in or uploading the content and mandates that unambiguous consent be given by everyone in sexually explicit images/videos.

Huge step to #DismantlePornhub and all exploitative MindGeek sites!

NY Times: Why Do We Let Corporations Profit From Rape Videos?

"When I was 14, someone recorded a video of me without my knowledge or consent. It ended up on XVideos."

Another groundbreaking investigation by NY Times’ ⁦Nick Kristof exposes one of the most-visited sites in the world, XVideos.

Xvideos is infested with rape and child sexual abuse material, much like Pornhub. In a recently published study, it was found that one in eight videos on the homepage showed sexual violence.

Kristof asks important questions:

  • Do we side with victims, or with XVideos?
  • Why do we let companies get away with this abuse?

The article states that Google, PayPal, Visa, and Discover must also be held accountable, as they are complicit in the abuse via advertising revenue and increasing web traffic.

NCOSE Law's joint class action lawsuit against XVideos is referenced in the article.
