Weekly Governor's Glance:
Senate Update from Senate President Morse Senate Report Card- Straight As!
This week, the New Hampshire Senate focused on education, passing a series of bills that would help improve our schools and give parents and students more tools to seek out the best education possible.
American Civics - HB 320 would require New Hampshire students to pass the civics naturalization examination developed by the 2020 United States Citizen and Immigration Services. We should ensure that anyone earning a high school diploma is an informed and prepared citizen. This test covers basic American history and government, such as the name of the first President, the role of three branches of government, and the protections included in the Bill of Rights.
Adequacy Standards - HB 242 amends the content of an adequate education, providing basic minimum standards for biology, physical science, earth science, civics and government, economics, geography, history, and personal finance literacy. We need to ensure that our students receive the core academic knowledge to prepare them to thrive in adulthood.
Academic Innovation - HB 609 would create Innovation Schools, giving local school officials the option to seek waivers from state requirements in order to create new ways to educate our students. By unleashing the power of innovation, we can give local school boards and administrators the flexibility to create methods of instruction, new courses, and whole new ways to reach students who are struggling under our calcified educational bureaucracy.
Assessment - HB 194 would enable the state Department of Education to share results from our annual assessment exams with parents whose school districts are reluctant to share this data in a timely manner. Parents need to know how their children are doing in order to make decisions about their educational futures. HB 194 would help give every parent more information about their children's academic progress.
In addition to the Education Freedom Accounts created under SB 130, these bills represent an education reform agenda that can revitalize New Hampshire schools and empower parents to make the right choices for every New Hampshire student.

Republican Spotlight: Meet Merrimack Town Chair Ginger Heald In this week’s republican spotlight, we will be highlighting Ginger Heald. Ginger is a N.H native, having grown up in Nashua, and now resides in the town of Merrimack. She served as vice chair to the Merrimack Republicans’ last cycle, and is now Chair of the committee.
Ginger played an integral role in the 2020 election cycle, organizing community members in support of a unified Republican ticket. Through Merrimack’s most recent special election, she continued to demonstrate leadership by gathering volunteers, helping voter contact efforts, and organizing election day operations.
We would like to thank Ginger for everything she has done to support local Republican candidates. It is individuals like Ginger who help ensure successful Republican candidates, and we are grateful to have her support.
Again, thank you Ginger!

Congratulations to Bill Boyd on his well-earned win in Tuesday's Special election. I am confident Bill will fight for the people of Merrimack and make sure their best interests are represented. His enthusiasm in improving the Granite State and ensuring it remains a great place for families, businesses and consumers makes him an excellent addition to the NH House of Representatives. House Majority Leader Congratulates Bill Boyd
Concord, NH- House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after Bill Boyd's special election victory in Merrimack to fill the seat of late Speaker Dick Hinch.
"I'd like to congratulate Bill Boyd on his successful and hard fought campaign. Losing in Merrimack was never an option, and we had a tall order against liberal, deep-pocket, out of state special interests that attempted to buy the election. We set out to ensure Speaker Hinch's seat remained in Republican hands, we remained united, and committed to our goal."
"For the last decade Bill has advocated for his constituents on the town council, and he will bring that same energy and enthusiasm to Concord to continue the fight on behalf of Merrimack. Tonight I'm thrilled to welcome Bill Boyd to the Republican caucus. With his help we will continue to improve the Granite State."
