=============================

John,

This week we released a new report that exposes how corporations are driving state preemption of local minimum wage laws, rent control, inclusionary zoning, and paid sick days and how we can push back.

The report, “ Unmasking Corporate Interference: How Corporations Keep Wages Low, Rents High and Democracy Out of Reach [[link removed]] ,” reveals the corporations that are driving a strategy of deregulation at every level of government and advancing state preemption as a part of that strategy. We developed this report in close partnership with five leading campaigns in Colorado, Michigan, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania that are fighting preemption of local job and housing measures in their states.

"Interference in local democracy is affecting us in ways that Tennesseans cannot afford -- from housing affordability, paid sick leave, to broadband and beyond,” said Hannah Kuhn, of Stand Up Nashville. “That's why we are coming together to restore local decision-making powers so that we can build strong and thriving communities that are ready for any crisis."

The report pulls back the curtain on the massive corporations driving state preemption, lays bare the harm of their actions on women, people of color and LGBTQ individuals, and tells the stories of the groups fighting for a better future in their home communities.
