Here's why Kelly McGinn earned so many votes:
She's trying to defeat Spotlight candidate Danica Roem, the first openly trans person to win and serve in a state legislature;
She submitted written testimony against same-sex adoption, saying that:
*
It
is
“absurd”
and
“irrational”;
*
It
is
not
in
“the
best
interests
of
children”;
*
It
is
a
“social
experiment
on
our
children”;
*
“Redefining
family,
marriage,
and
parenthood
has
become
a
national
obsession”;
and
*
Gay
couples
are
not
“forever
families”.
She signed a letter criticizing Catholic politicians who support “homosexual marriage,” which stated: "Homosexual marriage” is one of a set of policies that are “morally repugnant… [and] counter to the common good and that should be unwelcome in a just or even polite society.”
She also openly supports groups that advocate against adding sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes. She's against the trans community, supporting efforts to exclude transition-related health care from health insurance coverage.
