Dear John,

This week Congress introduced a new bill to protect the lives and rights of Palestinians under Israeli occupation—a milestone in our ongoing advocacy with the No Way to Treat a Child campaign.

The legislation, introduced by U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and 13 representatives, calls for increased oversight of U.S. aid to Israel to ensure our tax dollars don’t fund human rights violations against Palestinians.

Tell Congress: Support the “Defending the Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act” (HR 2590)!

Since 2000, more than 10,000 Palestinian children in the West Bank have been arrested and held in Israeli military detention, where their rights to protection and due process are systematically violated. And since 2006, at least 12,767 Palestinians, including 5,700 children, have lost their homes under Israeli policies that fuel forced displacement and home demolitions in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Through our No Way to Treat a Child campaign, we have worked with Defense for Children International-Palestine to advocate for Palestinian children’s rights by mobilizing people like you to speak out against conditions facing children living under decades of Israeli occupation. We have brought to U.S. audiences and Congress the stories of children who have experienced abuse in Israeli detention centers and those of parents who are unable to protect them.

HR 2590 seeks to defend the rights of Palestinian children and their families by barring U.S. tax dollars from funding the military detention of Palestinian children, destruction of Palestinian homes and property, and seizure of their lands in violation of international law.

Now we need your help to urge Congress to support this important measure.

Urge your representative to co-sponsor HR 2590 to keep U.S. tax dollars from violating Palestinian rights!

With gratitude for your support,

Jennifer Bing
