Hey there, Sharice Davids here.
Four years ago, Donald Trump campaigned on the promise of rebuilding our country’s infrastructure and never followed through.
Now, we finally have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in our country’s infrastructure — rebuilding roads, bridges, and public transit while working to achieve our climate goals, and President Biden has laid out his plan to do it.
As Vice Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know how badly we need to invest in infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers has given our current infrastructure a “C-” rating. In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, there’s no excuse for failing to invest in basic infrastructure.
So how do we do it right? NewDems look at it like this: We have to invest in today’s needs, repairing traditional infrastructure like roads and bridges, but we also need to put an eye to America’s infrastructure future.
What’s that mean?
- How about internet connectivity for all Americans, at speeds that meet the needs of a modern world?
- How about clean technology jobs and next-generation electric vehicles?
- How about transit-oriented development that says people shouldn’t have to live over an hour from work just to afford a home?
NewDems are building support for infrastructure investment and rallying our members for action. But one thing’s clear: getting this important work done means defending our House majority. Will you chip in $10 to help us get the job done?
