Friend,

With our recent marijuana legalization wins in New Mexico and New York, and Virginia becoming the first Southern state to legalize, it’s clear that there’s so much opportunity for reform, especially in the South.

Please register to join us for Going to the Source: Cannabis Reform in the South on April 20 from 4:00 - 5:15pm ET.

I’m excited to be moderating this webinar that will look at the political landscape and focus on possibilities for marijuana reform in the South. I’ll be joined by organizers leading the work in Virginia, Texas, and Georgia, and we’ll explore what’s at stake and share why there is so much to be won.

There is more public support for marijuana law reform than ever before with polls showing more than half the country is in favor of legalizing marijuana. And DPA has been leading the way to ensure legalization is done right with equity, social justice, and community reinvestment at the core.

But even as more and more states legalize, one person is still arrested nearly every minute simply for possessing marijuana. There’s so much more work to do in places like the South which has some of the harshest drug laws in the country.

Our allies in Virginia broke ground as the first state in the South to vote to legalize marijuana, leading the way for other states in the South to follow suit and pursue marijuana justice. But what will it take for the South to continue seeing marijuana justice with equity and community reinvestment at the core of legalization?

I hope you will register to join this important conversation on April 20.

  Sincerely,

Kassandra Frederique
