Georgia’s new set of voting restrictions are aimed at increasing Republican power by making sure only certain voters are able to easily access the polls. Voter suppression bills like these may influence whether Republicans can retake Congress and the White House, when the decision of who is elected should be up to American voters.

Georgia’s bill may be one of the first to pass, but many other states are following suit and working overtime to shatter our democracy. Even here in Colorado, our state’s GOP attempted to push through legislation that would undermine the accessibility of our gold-standard voting system.
In fact, over 360 bills to restrict voting rights have already been introduced in 47 states. Civil rights groups and advocates for democracy, including President Biden himself, are pushing back.

In Georgia, Republicans made it more difficult to vote by mail, reduced drop boxes, and made it illegal to give voters water while they are waiting in line. This is dangerous.
