Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I want to wish a very happy Vaisakhi and Sikh Heritage Month to my many wonderful Sikh constituents, and everyone who is celebrating across the UK and around the world. Vaisakhi is a celebration of the creation of the Khalsa by the 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It’s a time for us to reflect on the devotion of the Panj Pyare, the five beloved ones, and the values on which the Khalsa Panth was founded — the defence of freedom,
equality, and the betterment of all. Even as we have not always been able to be together and worship in our usual ways this year, I know Sikhs across the country have rallied to provide many incredible acts of selfless service, or sewa, in their communities. I hope that after a difficult year, you’ll be able to visit your Gurdwara, celebrate safely with your families and join some of the many virtual Vaisakhi events taking place this week. One Vaisakhi celebration that I would like to welcome you all to join is the international Sikh community event with the Sikh Federation. We’ll have Punjabi and English speakers from across the globe, including the Jathedar of the Akal Takht from
Amritsar. Join us this Saturday from 3pm – 6pm on Zoom (Meeting ID: 818 3373 8451): https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81833738451 Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh |
