Dear Friend,

Immigration Equality’s annual Safe Haven Awards Virtual Gala, presented by Marriott International, celebrates the strength of our clients, honors the dedication of our pro bono attorney partners, and thanks our strongest supporters. Our 2021 Safe Haven Awards will be held on Thursday, May 20th at 8pm ET.

We are thrilled to announce this year’s Global Vision Award will be presented to Edafe Okporo. Edafe is a gay refugee from Nigeria who was granted asylum. In Nigeria, he was a victim of mob violence due to his work advocating for LGBTQ access to health care. Edafe is now a global gay rights activist and the executive director of the RDJ Refugee Shelter in Harlem, which helps refugees transition to life in America. He is also a David Prize 2020 winner, an author of the forthcoming book ASYLUM, a Memoir & Manifesto by Simon and Schuster, and founder of The Pont

Join us in honoring Edafe and learn more about his story.

Thank you to our incredible event sponsors:
