Tasha Green Cruzat "The loss of any child is tragic and painful. As noted by Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, viewing the body camera footage of 13-year-old Adam Toledo’s death will be difficult to watch. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Toledo Family. In 2019, there were 148 recorded child and teen homicides by firearms in Illinois. Any death is unacceptable. Whether it is poverty, the state’s criminal justice system, or investments in our communities, we have let down our children. We can do better. Voices for Illinois Children remains committed to ensuring that all of our children are safe and have the resources they need to lead productive and healthy lives." | |
