The collective strength of workers to negotiate for improved pay and benefits has eroded, and income inequality has reached levels that predate the Great Depression. Our history tells us there’s a better way. The steady wages, workplace security, and legal protections that came from being in a union helped generations of workers provide a middle-class life for their families. But for decades now, corporations have flouted our laws and stripped us of our freedom to join together in unions.
